Residence in Foneria st.

We start from a pre-existence, the old Capri cinema, built in 1957, a building incorporated into the collective memory of the La Marina de Port neighborhood. The cinema closed in 1974 without any other company taking over. In 1986 the cinema building was renovated for the operation of a gym, maintaining the use of recreational equipment. It has undergone occasional modifications but without relevant effects on the bearing structure or facade.

As a project premise, the façade of Carrer de la Foneria has been considered as the public face of the Residence, both as a commercial claim and as a relationship withthe neighborhood and the street. However, it has been taken into account the existence of a square facing the back facade of the building with a series of cultural and health facilities (the Francesc Candel Library, the La Marina Primary Care Center) and administrative (La Marina Citizen Attention Office that occupies the old Glass Workshop building), as well as the existence of a large green meeting space, the Drets Humans Garden; by which a second access is projected that facilitates traffic to and from this area creating a daily scale relationship for users and visits that complements the main building.
